OnePlus and Snapchat team up to bring the joy of Diwali to those far from home

To celebrate with the Indian community all over the world, OnePlus, the global technology brand, has launched a unique Diwali campaign in collaboration with Snapchat. In a unique integration, the brands have created special Lenses that will bring to life renown, global landmarks including Tower Bridge in London, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Taj Mahal in Delhi and the Gateway of India in Mumbai, to commemorate the festival of lights.

Being a brand with undoubtedly the most involved community in the world, OnePlus is known for its meaningful engagements with its growing user community on a regular basis. Since 2014, the OnePlus community has organized more than 100 meetups around 30+ cities around the world. Continuing the concept of ‘One World. One Family. OnePlus’, the brand aims to bring the joy of Diwali to its Indian diaspora spread across the world.

Snapchat is the most expressive way to communicate with friends and family. It has 203 million daily active users globally, with 70% of them playing with or using AR features every day. Landmarkers launched earlier this year with templates for many locations are available in Lens Studio – meaning that anyone can create Augmented Reality experiences for Snapchat.

OnePlus’ Diwali campaign will help Indians across the world celebrate Diwali together by leveraging Snapchat’s AR technology to bring firecracker and lighting displays across the four historic monuments. This unique activation will transcend boundaries, cultures and locations and positions OnePlus as a lifestyle brand that brings Indians around the world closer to home.

This campaign reiterates this belief by enabling users to witness the spectacular celebration of light and colour on landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Tower Bridge in London, The Taj Mahal in Delhi and Gateway of India in Mumbai and many more.  To enable the feature, when Snapchatters are close to any of the 4 landmarkers they will be prompted to find the icon of this landmark on Snapchat camera. OnePlus’ sponsored lens will be the first placement in Snapchat’s lens carousel, and as Snapchatters point their phone’s camera at each of the 4 Landmarkers, they will be able to see the monument light up and showcase firecrackers eruptions from the sky.

What is Landmarker AR by Snapchat?

  • Lenses using our Landmarker technology enable augmented reality experiences that can transform the world’s most iconic landmarks in real-time.
  • They are built using proprietary technology that helps us create 3D models of landmarks constructed from Snaps that our community has chosen to submit, from these locations, to our public Our Stories product.
  • Snap Inc. introduced the Landmarker experience in India this August with two iconic monuments Gateway of India in Mumbai and Taj Mahal in Agra.
